I Could Do That

Working notes
I used to sit and dream
Of what I could/would/should do.
The ‘if onlys’ gripped me by the short hairs.
Oh, I twisted every excuse
until I plum wore it out.
And then one day, sitting on a pile of rag(e/s),
I screamed
“I could do that!”
And, sure enough, I did…
And I'm here to tell you:
Things have (gloriously)
never been the same
since then.
Of what I could/would/should do.

In the 'topside' world, I currently live in Honolulu, Hawaii and teach in the English Department at Hawaii Pacific University. In the current that flows under the surface, I am a writer who also works in the mediums of photographs, collage, and masks.
