Winter Solstice
Glenda McDannell
I’m addicted to your sway,
the way
we move when it rains.
The way
smoke seeps from between
the lips that kiss,
lips I miss
when my body gets cold.
But we’ve been told smoking kills
and you ask me how I feel.
I say closer to death,
but you couldn't hear me
because you got distracted
by the sight of your breath.
It made you remember
how much you hated
winter.
the way
we move when it rains.
The way
smoke seeps from between
the lips that kiss,
lips I miss
when my body gets cold.
But we’ve been told smoking kills
and you ask me how I feel.
I say closer to death,
but you couldn't hear me
because you got distracted
by the sight of your breath.
It made you remember
how much you hated
winter.
